The labour cover depends on who installs it. Manufacturers only honour it when the cylinder was connected by a licensed plumber. We are one — so if we fit it, the full warranty stands.
A split system separates the tank from the compressor. The tank can stay in the cupboard the old cylinder came out of, and only a small outdoor unit goes on the wall outside — so this is the heat pump for a house with no room for a full monoblock, or where you do not want a large unit against the exterior wall. The two are joined by refrigerant lines, which is extra work at install time and worth factoring into a quote.
