You can have us fit it. You do not have to.
Plenty of people buy the cylinder here and have their own plumber connect it. That is completely fine and we will not push you either way.
Someone licensed has to do it
Connecting a hot water cylinder is restricted sanitary plumbing work in New Zealand. It is not a DIY job — not because we say so, but because an unconsented installation will not be covered by your insurance if it leaks, and the manufacturer will not honour the labour part of the warranty either.
Why there is no price on this page
Because it would be a made-up number. What an installation costs depends on the pipework you already have, whether the electrical supply needs changing, how the old cylinder comes out, and whether you are changing type — low pressure to mains pressure, or electric to heat pump, both cost more than a like-for-like swap.
We would rather look at it and tell you the real figure than advertise a headline price that turns into something else on the day.
What an installation includes
- Draining and removing the old cylinder, and taking it away
- The new cylinder positioned and strapped with seismic restraints, as the Building Code requires
- A new valve set — tempering valve, pressure reducing valve, expansion control valve
- Reconnecting the pipework
- The electrical side by a registered electrician
- Filling, testing, and checking the temperature at the tap
